Got the Option key part-and that would be with the Ext HD plugged in & ON, yes-Sooo, at that point can I run the clone from the External drive to see if it works OK before I continue to re-install it back onto Internal HD, as I said the clone was made as HD was leaving this world. Thank you both very kindly for your responses-I almost feel ready to begin, but a few devilish details remain for me, so if you would indulge me a bit further I would appreciate it. And is there any way to test that clone before recovering it as the OS to check if all OK or better to go back to an earlier clone-which doesn't have a few updates on some applications? The last month has been a run around chasing issues that finally proved to be HD failure-doing the archive & install & multiple updates to system again is not preferable & if the last clone was "successful" I could be back in the biz all the sooner? Thanks for the knowledge or where to find it that a 10.1.5 system can go-seems I'm being squeezed off sites that only a few weeks back I could get on. But, this is first time experience w/recovering system from clone-the CCC docs are/were on the HD & my 10.1.5 computer can't seem to get the Bombich site to work-so how to get the info to show me how to use the bootable clone feature to get my system as it was before death? iBook returning tomorrow-will it have 10.3.9 back on it from Apple or will I need first to use install CD's & then re-install upgrades back to 3.9, and then do something? with the Ext HD data? Or is it possible to install the clone from the Ext HD right on the empty HD & have everything, emails, back the way it was in one or two motions? What are those motions? It appears from the check list on CCC that not everything is cloned, so does it create a complete running OS or just what is like our User folder?Īnd I didn't have the chance to test the pre-demise clone that I made after SMARTReporter gave me only a few mins. ![]() Fortunately had extended warranty with 3 weeks left to go. ![]() I did my latest system clone/snyc just before my HD went into cardiac arrest & the GUI went into super slo-mo.
